Is CBD addictive? This is a common question I get from you guys and I wanted to address this!

CBD is not addictive and you might be wondering how that is possible when THC its cousin molecule is.

One of the primary differences between CBD and THC is that THC has psychoactive effects, which means it can produce a “high” or feeling of euphoria. This is because THC binds to and activates CB1 receptors in the brain, which are responsible for producing feelings of pleasure and reward. Over time, repeated activation of CB1 receptors by THC can lead to changes in the brain’s reward circuitry, which can contribute to addiction.

In contrast, CBD does not have psychoactive effects and does not bind to CB1 receptors in the same way as THC. Instead, CBD interacts with multiple receptors in the body, including CB2 receptors, which are primarily found in the immune system and peripheral tissues. CBD also interacts with non-cannabinoid receptors, such as serotonin and dopamine receptors, which are involved in regulating mood, anxiety, and addiction.

While more research is needed to fully understand the mechanisms underlying CBD’s effects on addiction, preclinical studies have suggested that CBD may have therapeutic potential for treating drug addiction and dependence. For example, CBD has been shown to reduce drug-seeking behavior in animal models of addiction, and some clinical trials have suggested that CBD may be effective in reducing cravings and anxiety in individuals with opioid or cannabis dependence.

In summary, THC can be addictive because of its psychoactive effects and its ability to activate reward pathways in the brain. CBD, on the other hand, does not have psychoactive effects and interacts with multiple receptors in the body in ways that may have therapeutic potential for treating addiction and dependence.

FAQ

WHAT IS CBD?

In the cannabis plant, there are over 100 different cannabinoids or chemicals in the plant. Two of the best-studied chemicals are known as CBD and THC. THC is the chemical responsible for the intoxicating effect. In comparison, CBD has no intoxicating effects and has many health benefits. The most common health benefits include pain, sleep, and mood. CBD also is not addicting which is a huge bonus because you can stop taking CBD whenever you choose and your body will not become dependent on it.

DOES CBD GET YOU HIGH?

CBD does not have any intoxicating effects and will not get you high. So you do not have to worry about that and can take CBD at any time.

IS CBD LEGAL?

Hemp-derived CBD is legal in all 50 states thanks to the Farm Bill that was passed in 2018.

HOW DO I FIGURE OUT CBD DOSAGE?

Dosing CBD can be a little more tricky at first but once you figure out your perfect dosage then you are set for life! Start with a small dosage of CBD and increase slowly until you reach your desired effect. Your ideal dosage of CBD depends on a lot of factors and it’s different for everyone. Your body weight, pharmacogenetics (genetic makeup of your response to a drug or chemical), the condition you’re treating, and the concentration of CBD in the product you’re using.⁣ We highly recommend you also keep a journal to write down how much CBD you took, in what form, with or without food, and how you felt before and after.

To make dosing and product selection easier, we offer free one-on-one consultations for all of our customers and these are done with Dr. Choudhury herself! Email her at contact@drpeacelily.com to set up your consultation today.

ARE DR. PEACE LILY PRODUCTS LAB TESTED?

Yes, all of the products are lab tested to ensure customers receive the highest quality of CBD oil. Peace Lily was created by a pharmacist that is committed to patient safety and health. We have a certificate of analysis (COA) for each of our products. The COA is a test down to see if there are any heavy metals, yeast, mold, or bacteria in our products. Additionally, all the products are made in the USA under Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).

IS CBD ADDICTING?

CBD does not have any addictive properties and your body will not become dependent on CBD even after continuous use. You can choose to take CBD daily or as needed without having any withdrawal effects.
